Bucky x Courtyard Urbanist: Building the Future of Middle Housing Together

We're proud to announce our partnership with Courtyard Urbanist, a collaboration that brings together feasibility infrastructure and visionary urban design to move courtyard urbanism from concept to implementation.

Bucky exists to help innovators in the land development space turn their ideas into feasible reality. Through our parcel feasibility engine, we give developers, architects, and builders the ability to evaluate sites, test zoning constraints, model unit mixes, and assess development feasibility, all in one jurisdiction-aware workflow. We turn the hard, slow work of answering "can I build this, and does it pencil out?" into something fast, clear, and actionable. For a movement like courtyard urbanism, where the gap between a beautiful idea and a buildable project is often where momentum dies, that feasibility layer is everything.

What makes this partnership so exciting is what the Courtyard Urbanist team brings to the table. Led by their work on courtyard-block patterns, mid-rise building types, and complete-lifecycle housing, their team carries incredible depth of experience in the design process. They've done the hard thinking about how middle housing actually works, how to design 3 and 4-bedroom units that support families, how to integrate parking without letting it dominate the architecture, and how to keep neighborhoods walkable and livable through every stage of life. Our role is to enhance that design and visionary capability with contextual data and value-add insights, grounding their ambitious vision in the realities of specific sites, zoning, and development economics. Together, design and data become a repeatable, implementable system.

Courtyard Urbanist is building across three integrated layers: design and development, capital formation, and demand aggregation, and Bucky is helping power the planning and feasibility foundation that makes all of it possible. By connecting better urban form to viable development, aligned capital, and real market demand, we're turning courtyard urbanism from an admired idea into an implementable development model.

Most of all, we're excited about this partnership because of what it points toward: the next chapter of urbanism across North America. Cities, landowners, developers, and families are all searching for a housing model that sits between the detached house and the large apartment building. Courtyard urbanism is that middle path, and we're thrilled to help make it real one feasible, fundable, buildable project at a time.

We can't wait to build what comes next, together.
